Process Paper
Why I chose this topic:
I started with finding out my topic. I searched a list of historical turning points and didn't come across any that interested me. It bugged me that all of them seemed boring. I came across The Great Fire of London and started to research it. I wasn't into it. Soon after, I saw on the list "Atomic Bombing in Japan". I had never heard of that. I wanted to find out what it was about. After a few websites and pictures and stories, I thought that it sounded cool. I researched deeper and found it was really interesting. It was really interesting. I wasn't thinking "Ugh, get this over with,” like I was some of the other topics.
How I conducted my research:
I started with the basics, because I still couldn't completely understand what happened. After understanding it, it was so easy. I had to find several reliable websites like edu websites, org websites, etc. That wasn't the hardest thing about it. That, I understood. What was hardest for me was finding out what information was important. For example, I don't need the name of someone in Russia that doesn't like the atomic bomb. That was irrelevant. After that, I added more. I would read a whole paragraph in my research and go back in my website and write it in my own words. That was pretty easy.
How I created and developed my website: In making my website, I first just left the default design on the website. I then added in all of my research in my own words. It looked really plain. So, I decided to make it more interesting. I looked up at the toolbar and found all of these elements and I made graphics, added a bunch of pictures and added a logo. I then at the very end changed the font, the size, and everything so that it was appealing to the eye. I thought that that would help with my project and it did.
How my project relates to theme:
Under direction of President Harry S. Truman, the Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima, called “Little Boy”, on August 6, 1946 was just the start of a major turning point in World War II. There were several different perspectives from Japan, & the United States, including the rest of the world as it was what ended World War II prematurely. Enola Gay; bomber, Everyone in Hiroshima, United States, President Harry S. Truman, Col. Tibbets, Maj. Charles Sweeney, Capt. George Marquardt, Capt. Chuck Knight were all people involved in some way in the bombing in Hiroshima. There were two bombs that caused the Unconditional Surrender. The other one was called “Fat Man”. This atomic bomb was dropped in Nagasaki three days after the bomb was dropped in Hiroshima. Both bombs were the very first two atomic bombs used in war and the last. They also caused World War II to end on Japan’s call. Without this event, World War II could possibly still be going on otherwise have ended in a totally different way.
